ATCA Statement on House Bill to Avoid Government Shutdown

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Statement from ATCA President & CEO Stephen Creamer:

ATCA commends Congress for taking bipartisan action to avert a government shutdown at the end of September and provide continued funding for the federal government through December 11.

We're at a critical phase of modernizing our National Airspace System (NAS) with the Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) efforts to implement a Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS). As the Modern Skies Coalition - of which ATCA is a proud member - has noted, the FAA is working to develop and deploy new software designed to improve efficiency, resilience, and safety across the NAS. Completing that effort will require an additional $19 billion investment from Congress.

Keeping the government open and remaining focused on this next phase of BNATCS is paramount. ATCA represents the entire air traffic management community, and our members are honored to be among the builders of BNATCS. We look forward to continuing to work with members of both the House and Senate who share our goal of a continued, sustained investment to fully modernize the NAS.
