ATCA Leadership Council Visits Capitol Hill
Members of the ATCA Leadership Council met with key aviation leaders in both the House and Senate, making the case for full funding of BNATCS to complete the transformation of America's air traffic control system.
Our discussions focused on:
The FAA is already delivering. With $1B in investments underway, contracts awarded for up to 612 modern radars, and nearly 50% of telecom infrastructure upgraded, modernization is happening right now.
The critical funding gap. The $12.5B committed to date is a down payment that modernizes the system. The additional $19B is what transforms it. Without full funding, we get a more reliable system, but not the scalable, future-ready system our nation needs.
The transformation imperative. Completing BNATCS unlocks much more, including the Common Automation Platform, modern Traffic Flow Management, and infrastructure for Advanced Air Mobility including eVTOL and drones.
Accountability and metrics. We emphasized the need for a single source of truth on program progress, across Program Portfolio Metrics, Modernization Metrics, and Transformational Metrics for airspace optimization.
As the voice of the ATM industry, ATCA's 100+ member companies are ready to support the FAA and Congress in delivering the world-class air traffic management system our nation deserves. We remain a resource for Congress. The decision we presented to Congress is clear: the additional $19B of funding is critical; modernization is already happening but the transformation needs to be completed!
